The new USDA food plate
Michelle Obama and its administration decided to ditch the old food pyramid where we’ve been recommended to follow since the last two decades, based on outdated science and influenced by people with business interests.

This new food which resembles a pie chart, ah we don’t call it a pie chart, you shall call it portion “plate” shaped symbol. This plate size or portion is to remind people of a healthy diet. Its divided into 4 colours, promoting more portion for vegetables and fruits, covering half the plate. Grains occupy additional quarter and protein should be consumed in lesser quantity instead.
According to Robert Post, an official at USDA’s center for nutrition policy and promotion, the message is clear: “Make half your plate fruits and vegetables,”
